The Will of God is Bigger and Better than Ours

The will of God is bigger and better than ours...

One of the greatest truths of the Reformation was the refocusing on the will of God and it's impending fulfillment. When God wills it, it happens. When he thinks it, it comes to pass. That is the knowledge of God. No scripture shows this better than Psalm 33...

Psalm 33:10 The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing;
    he frustrates the plans of the peoples.
11 The counsel of the Lord stands forever,
    the plans of his heart to all generations.
12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
    the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!

The Catholic is in a predicament with this passage because they cannot object like the arminian will. Verse 12 states "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!"

Who are these people? The arminian can say these people are strictly Israel, while the Catholic has to be consistent and say this can apply to the church. I just thought I should point that out.
"The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing..." The Lord's will trumps our wills. His will is bigger, better, and more ancient. His will created the universe while our wills struggle to make a PB&J, isn't that depressing. He brings our wills and desires to nothing.
"He frustrates the plans of the peoples..." We may have plans in our lives but they have no standing before God. His will is accomplished before ours is even considered in time. We have no purpose outside the plans of God. We shouldn't even try to fight him, but we do. Fighting is the only reasonable response that our sinful nature can attempt against a holy God.
"The counsel of the Lord stands forever,
    the plans of his heart to all generations..."
I can't tell you how tired I am of individuals who say that salvation is of man's will. Libertarian Free Will is a fairy tail to the scriptures. Ephesians 1:11 is a free testimony of God's free will. His counsel stands forever. When we forget that, we end up with a mixed, man-made gospel.

Soli Deo Gloria!
