Dr. White, Dr. Flowers, and Dr. Allen...

These three Doctors of biblical something or another, have been going in circles.
Last week Dr. James White sent a debate invitation to Dr. Allen.
(our article and link to the invitation, here: https://m.facebook.com/story.php…)
This invitation was a formal, public, moderated debate invitation over the atonement in Hebrews... It took all traveling burden and stress off of Dr. Allen and even gave him the affirmative. Naturally, there was no response. The only interaction that there seemed to be from the Traditionalist Movement was Dr. Leighton Flowers and his podcast.
Well, in a recent episode of the podcast, Dr. Flowers read the nearly three page response to James in his tome on the Extent of the Atonement. We didn't know why he did this untill Leighton Flowers pointed out that Dr. Allen said he had responded to Dr. White's defense of the true atonement in the book.
Well, in the most recent Dividing Line program, Dr. White responds to the three or so pages that Dr. Allen wrote about his view, and points out the very true comparison between Bryson and David Allen when they both say, "read my book..."
It was a very good response. I personally found no ad hominem attacks. As anyone would be, Dr. White was zealous in his response to Dr. Allen's accusations. Just as well, Dr. Allen did not deal with Dr. White's arguments from Hebrews. Which sort of does away with Dr. Flowers' argument that Dr. Allen has the better position. Dr. Allen's accusations against Dr. White were unfounded and I reduce them to the level of ridiculousness of his accusation of the negative inference fallacy he accuses us of in John 10.
The deep appreciation that we have to have for the Old Testament Law, the fulfilment of that Law in Christ, his position as high priest, his intercession as mediator, and his perfect plan being completed in time is unprecedented in the Reformed understanding of the atonement... But you can't have this sort of deep appreciation for the atonement if you divide the office of sacrifice from mediation, which Dr. Allen does. They were both of the same mediator and they are both acts of intercession. If he does this, then he needs to drop his view of Penal Substitution Atonement because that's the whole point of that view.
